Illness, be gone!

Go away!!

Go away!!

It seems everyone around my home is on the mend and I’m praying it stays that way.  The illnesses have been pretty mild…but how do you explain that to a fussy one-and-a-half-year-old? In any case, barring unforeseen circumstances, I’m back in the saddle and will be available to help on Skype and IRC. As I said in the Roundup for this week, now is the time to catch up and, if you are having trouble, ask for assistance in getting up to speed.

Don’t be too concerned if you find yourself behind the rest of the class; I’m well aware that technical difficulties with installation and configuration can be a major time sink if this is unfamiliar territory to you. Now is the time to catch up, though. Carpe diem!

Remember, if you get sick yourself try and drop me a note to let me know what is going on. I anticipate this is going to be a rough fall and I’m willing to make allowances if you keep me in the loop.

Okay now…back to work.

RSS Super Feed

Ok, I’ve managed to create an RSS feed that combines all of the your blog RSS feeds into one “mega feed” if that will make it easier to add to a feed reader or a sidebar widget.  This followed out of a conversation I had with Phillip; it’s much easier to read blog posts if they come to you rather than you having to go to them.

C217 Super Feed

I used the service of FeedStitch in order to create this feed. It was pretty easy to do, and it’s a site you might want to bookmark.

Catching up

I will be viewing all of your blogs, subscribing to them, and adding you to my blogroll over the next day or so. I suggest you all do the same with each other! In order to subscribe to or add to your blogroll a blog, use the commands from the drop-down menu under Blog Info in the light grey toolbar along the top of the page. Then, go into Widgets and make sure you drag the Links widget to the sidebar to make it visible.

You can find that Maggie has already listed most class blog links in her blogroll, located on the right-hand side of the page of her blog. Nice work, Maggie!

  • Monday! May 23, 2011
I’ve tried to re-work some of my plans to reflect the new DMS Communications site I’m creating……I haven’t tried hard enough though because I still haven’t finished.  The joy of working on sites without the necessity of an assignment is crushed by my procrastination and not even having a “due date” So, maybe tha […]

"...lots of life happening lately..." Okay, starting over ………again………….WAHHHH!!! DEJA VU!?! Ya, I know. So, lots of life happening lately has put my entire web design life, including my schooling, on hold! However, in all the life happenings, my husband’s business is taking off and he is in need of hi […]
  • Grrr…. August 24, 2010
I’ve found that WordPress is making me crazy and I spend so much time trying to get my blog to look just right.  I spend a really long time just trying to get My New Plan page to look correct and  show correctly on the menu. I was also trying to add another page for my discussion assignments, but still haven’t nailed that down.  I’m just an […]
  • Rusty… August 22, 2010
I feel like I have been spinning my wheels for the last two weeks, trying to get things moving in a forward direction.  I feel like a rusty old car, pathetically trying to race down the speedway.  Although it may not seem like it, I really have accomplished quite a bit: I read through all my blog posts to see what I had already covered. Man, have I had some […]
  • Web Hosting August 20, 2010
I have used Site5 for my host and my domain registrations. I chose this web host for a few reasons. It came on good recommendation from a friend, but was also reasonably priced.  This has been my first experience with having to purchase a web host and, although I haven’t had much reason to contact customer service, I haven’t had any trouble yet. As much as I […]
  • Starting Fresh August 15, 2010
This last year has presented more challenges than I could have ever imagined.  Due to all these life circumstances, I set my schooling down for another day. That day has arrived! I’m very excited to announce that I’m finally picking up where I left off and will be completing my PHP Site Management & Theme Design course. It would be difficult […]

This list is from Avinash Kaushik of Market Motive’s extraction of the usable part of 3 new Google Analytic tools – along with some other tools that are either free or a very low cost. These links have more features than he uses, so you will have to play around a bit to find the parts you find useful. He says to keep an eye to the future – […]
